Richmond High School Senior | Galveston Photographer

What a gorgeous day for an outdoor Senior session!  Miss Rachel from Richmond, Texas contacted me about doing a combination session for her, she is a golfer and loves the beach (and her dog Max), and wanted to do Senior Pictures which included a golf course and the beach.  I knew just the place and on the day of her shoot, we couldn't have hand-picked better weather!!!!  Look at her fabulous eyes and smile!  Max, her golden retriever was a perfect gentleman and sat so still for the pictures at the end where they are staring off into the ocean.... Thank you Rachel, I hope you LOVE your senior portraits taken in Galveston, Texas!

Review of January 2011-Month 1 of my 1st Project 365

I started a Project this year... actually I started a few projects this year, but more on that later!

This particular project, my Photo-A-Day Project, has been really fun so far!  I had been thinking of doing something like this for quite some time now, and when I read this article from PhotoJoJo on January 2 it finally got my wheels in motion!

I did a little research on Flickr, found a small group that I liked, and joined in on the fun!

Here is a Review of my January photostream...

If you haven't ever tried a Project 365 I highly recommend it!  You don't have to start on January 1, start any day...

Start with doing a Photo-A-Day for a month...see what you think!

I think it's helping me to improve my photography, when you think of something to capture and you try it, you may have to play around with your camera settings, lighting, composition... It's really enlightening!

It also is so cool to look back over the month and remember what you were doing :)  I know sometimes I don't remember what I did yesterday, much less a month ago!!!!

I'm linking up to Miss Jenny's Alphabet Thursday for the letter "R" (for REVIEW of January.....).  Be sure to check out the other fun "R" posts on her Blog!

Pink Favorites

This morning as I was reading thru some of my favorite blogs, I came across Sue's blog post about participating in "Pink Saturday"....

I was intrigued, of course, since Pink is my favorite color (besides Red....)

I really can't decide which one I like the best, if you ask me one day I say Pink, if you ask me another day, I may say Red!!!

Anyway, I decided to browse thru my recent pictures to see if I had any "Pink" ones and here's what I found...

Pretty Pink Packaging for a recent High School Senior...

My new Nike running shoes I'm trying to break in before my first 5K run at the end of this month...

A couple iPhone "self-portraits" of me in Pink...

and of course, my Pink iPhone case...

and how about these adorable Newborn pics from my shoot with the adorable Miss Lucy...

or these Pink items available in my Etsy shop "Shop Gina Kay"...

YEP, I definitely have a thing for Pink, don't you think???

Oh, and I didn't even mention Pink the Pop/Rock Star - isn't she the greatest?? LOVE her!

Well this was fun, and definitely worth the few minutes I spent looking thru my pictures to find Pink - I only had to go back to November!!

This was my first time to participate in "Pink Saturday", Please check out the other fun "Pink" blog posts at How Sweet the Sound: Pink Saturday - you'll be glad you did!

10 Things I LOVE about Schlotsky's

Schlotsky's is most definitely my favorite sandwich shop... and there are at least 10 reasons why!

  1. Chipotle Grilled Chicken Sandwich, yumm yumm! I get this ALMOST every time I go....
  2. Jalapeno Chips - the kettle baked kind are just heavenly with a sandwich...
  3. Broccoli Cheese Soup - seriously, does anyone make a better broccoli cheese?....
  4. Baked Potato Soup - my 2nd choice if someone else ate all the broccoli cheese....
  5. Greek Spinach Salad - when I'm trying to be good....
  6. Pepperoni Pizza or the Chicken Pesto Pizza - when I'm willing to be bad....
  7. The Bread....sandwich bread, pizza bread, sourdough bread, wheat bread, jalapeno cheese bread!!!
  8. There is a Scholotsky's just THREE MINUTES from my new house....
  9. They NOW SERVE CINNABON!!!!
  10. Did I mention CINNABON???????

So today, just to "try it out" I drove-thru and ordered a 6-pack

of Hot Delicious Cinnabon Rolls

and even though it was mid-afternoon, I decided to share one with Miss Morgi...

of course she had to wait until after I took about 20 photos of it... but doesn't that look G-O-O-D???

I even let Daisy have a little nibble...

She is such a little beggar!!! But Morgi and I couldn't finish the huge Cinnamon Roll between us anyway, so a couple nibbles shouldn't hurt her girlish figure!

Did you enjoy my reasons I LOVE Scholotsky's? I hope I didn't make you too hungry!

Oh, by the way,

YES the Cinnabon Rolls are FABULOUS!

Quick Quiz - 3 Questions for Mommies....

Obviously this is a "Q" post for Jenny Matlock's Alphabet Thursday....

Jenny Matlock

I heard an interesting statistic on the radio yesterday, so it got me to thinking, it said:

"The average parent only has 93 minutes of free time per day. And that’s not 93 minutes in a row.  That’s 93 minutes grabbing a few free minutes here, a few free minutes there."

Really?

Are you serious?

Who are they kidding?  Who are they interviewing?

Are they counting the time I'm showering, getting ready, and going to the bathroom?

Even though I already have 2 daughters that have left the nest, and I only have Miss Morgi here on most days,

and the hubby,

and Daisy....

I can't comprehend 93 minutes of free time on any average day!!!  Can you?

So I thought I'd quiz all the mommies out there...

Are you ready?  This is a tough one....

1. Do you think you have 93 minutes of free time per day? Time just for you, to do whatever you wish?

2.  What do you "normally" spend your free time on each day?

3.  If you had 2 uninterrupted hours today to do whatever you wanted, What would you do?

  • Quality time with hubby?
  • Quick trip to the salon for mani/pedi?
  • Quiche with a girlfriend at La Madelaine?
  • Quiet time for reading, napping, etc.?

I can't wait to hear from everyone!!! Of course your answers don't have to start with "Q", I was just on a roll....LOL!

I would love some ideas for when the next "free time" opportunity arises!!!!

Vintage Bed Makeover for the Girls Room

I recently did a little decorating with spray paint...

When we moved Oct. 1 the girls had to start sharing a room, we decorated it with a "Paris" them and the colors are black & white with lime green as the accent color.  I had an idea for the bed, I wanted a "vintage" looking iron headboard.  I started looking at antique stores and online for ideas and finally found this on Craigslist:

It wasn't exactly what I was looking for, I really just wanted a headboard - not a footboard (because they are not as easy to make the bed), but for $80 I figured I could make it work!

I wanted to paint it black to match their room, so I went to Home Depot for sandpaper, primer and paint.  I went with the Rust-Oleum brand and I think it turned out great.  This is what it looked like after I sanded it, I forgot to take a picture after I put the primer on :(

Here is the finished product in the girls room - it looks really cute, don't you think?
