Grand Opening and other exciting news!

Wow! Has it really been over 2 months since I blogged? So much to tell!

Studio Move - I've moved to a wonderful new space in Galveston at 2324 Market which is 2 blocks from the Strand! The new space is bigger and better and has lots of cool features - come see at the Grand Opening!  There are so many cool spots to shoot outside on the streets and alleys, with interesting architecture and colors, ever-changing backdrops!

Grand Opening - Celebration at the new studio scheduled for Thursday, December 10 from 4-7pm. This will be a come and go event with wine and light snacks, stop by and see me! There will be Gift Certificates and other photo-related gift items available for purchase in time for Christmas!!! Door prizes and goodie bags too.....

Boudoir/Pinup Photography - I've been super busy developing "Ooh La La Boudoir", and have had some wonderful models help me with this fun and rewarding branch of my business. Thank you Marcella, Sabrina, Sara, Carey, Toni, Erin and Precious!!! I have several beautiful outdoor locations that are family favorites!  P.S.  All family portraits taken from November 1 - March 31 are eligible to enter the competition for "America's Cutest Family" in the International Charity Model Search which raises funds for Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep (NILMDTS).  The grand prize winner receives a new car!  You know your family is good looking, now you can prove it!

Food for Thought

While driving to work this morning (listening to Nickelback - If Today was Your Last Day) I was overcome with emotion as I realized how precious life is and how we should all most definitely preserve our presence here on earth with photographs of ourselves and our loved ones. I lost my father in a house fire when I was only 9 years old and would give ANYTHING to have pictures of him and even more importantly pictures of ME with him! I can think of only 2 photos that I even have of him and they are just snapshots, and while they are most precious to me I would LOVE to have many many more of special moments and even everyday moments. I also reflected on the fact that I was always the one taking pictures of everyone and there aren't as many pictures of me with my own children and I decided that was going to change!!!

Everyone PLEASE realize that a photograph is priceless and if you are always the one behind the camera then just hand it over to someone because someday you will treasure those photos of you with your parents, your kids, your family and friends.

Are you on Facebook? We are. We're jazzed about the opportunities to connect with our friends online. We've got a great fan page that will keep you up to date on happenings in the studio.

More and more we're connecting through social media, so we decided to create a fun, inexpensive way for you to look your best to all your old and new online friends. Once a month, on the last Monday of the month, from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Gina Hickman Photography hosts a Facebook Foto Session in studio (2324 Market Street, Galveston).

Come and enjoy a welcome break from your hectic week. We'll treat you to a cold beverage and a tasty treat while you take a moment to relax and be pampered. Get some friends together and join us. For only $20, you'll get an image you'd be proud to share on the World Wide Web. Bring a friend or two and you'll EACH get an image for $10. The portrait session will last 10 minutes, and you'll have a choice of backgrounds to create a casual, personality-driven image.

A few days after your portrait is taken, the image will be uploaded to the Gina Hickman Photography "Facebook Fotos" album, and you can tag yourself and drag the image to your desktop to use on your social networking or e-dating sites.
